Humberside FRS reports that on Monday 16th February 2015 a fire occurred in a compressor room at a North Lincolnshire food processing factory.

The fire started in a compressor motor in the 15m x 10m room at the plant. The sprinklers in the room activated to extinguish the fire which was recorded as being ‘out ‘by the time FRS appliances and personnel arrived.

A Humberside FRS officer reported that “not only has this activation clearly prevented the fire from spreading and causing more damage, it has also meant that fire-fighters did not have to be committed to a risk area to fight a fire and were only required to enter the compartment to confirm the fire was out prior to turning off the sprinkler system.’
